Empowering Women in AI: A Two-Part Workshop on Generative AI Solutions, Deployment, and Responsible AI

Event Overview:
We are excited to propose a comprehensive two-part workshop series dedicated to fostering the growth and development of women students in the field of Generative AI. This initiative is a collaboration with university women’s associations across Boston’s regional schools, aiming to provide an enriching learning experience that not only enhances technical skills but also promotes ethical considerations in AI development and deployment. To begin with, WiDS will be collaborating with Northeastern University, Boston’s “Husky Syster’s Code” women student association to conduct these workshops, which we later can expand to other universities in the area.

Event Details:
Part 1: Generative AI Practical Solution Development

Duration: 1 hour (45 minutes of content + 15 minutes Q&A)
Content Overview: This session will introduce participants to the fundamentals of Generative AI, focusing on hands-on solution development. Attendees will learn about different Generative AI models, their applications, and how to approach problem-solving using these advanced technologies. The workshop will include practical exercises designed to give participants a solid foundation in creating AI-driven solutions.

Part 2: Deployment, Evaluation, and Responsible AI

Duration: 1 hour (45 minutes of content + 15 minutes Q&A)
Content Overview: Building on the knowledge from Part 1, this session will dive deeper into the critical aspects of deploying AI solutions, evaluating their performance, and ensuring they are developed and used responsibly. Key topics will include deployment strategies, performance metrics, ethical considerations, bias mitigation, and the importance of transparency and accountability in AI systems.

Objectives:
* To equip women students with the knowledge and skills to develop and deploy Generative AI solutions.
* To foster an understanding of the ethical implications of AI and the principles of Responsible AI.
* To encourage the participation of women in the field of AI, providing them with the tools and confidence to excel.
* To create a supportive community for women in AI through networking opportunities and mentorship.

Presenter:
The workshop will be conducted by myself, Kavana Venkatesh, an experienced AI practitioner and advocate for women in technology. With a background in developing highly scalable solutions in data science, Kavana brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to the workshop, ensuring an engaging and informative session for all participants.

Target Audience:
This workshop is designed for women students from Boston’s regional schools with an interest in data science and AI. No prior experience in Generative AI is required, making it accessible to beginners while also providing valuable insights for those with intermediate knowledge looking to expand their skill set.

Why Attend?
Participants will gain hands-on experience in developing and deploying Generative AI solutions, an understanding of the ethical considerations in AI, and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals passionate about advancing women’s roles in technology. This workshop series promises to be a stepping stone for women students aspiring to make a mark in the AI domain.

This is an exciting opportunity to support students in data science to get an understanding of the industry practices. Together, we can inspire and empower the next generation of women leaders in AI.
